NovoPath captures the Category III digitization add-on codes on the case, paired with the primary service code, when a case is read digitally for primary diagnosis. Stains and recuts ordered from the viewer become charges, and the work reaches your billing system without a second entry.
Is NovoPath's all-in-one LIS FDA Cleared?
NovoPath’s all-in-one LIS connects to the viewer a laboratory already uses, or provides a built-in viewer, not for diagnostic use.
Here is how that fits the rest of a digital workflow. In the United States, FDA clearance for primary diagnosis applies to the whole slide imaging scanner and the viewing configuration it was cleared with, device by device. NovoPath connects to the cleared scanners a laboratory chooses, including Leica, Hamamatsu, Philips, Motic and KFBIO, and to the viewer the laboratory has validated for its reads.
Before clinical use, a laboratory validates its digital workflow under CAP and CLIA, the same way it validates the glass one. NovoPath carries the audit trail, case history and specimen identity that inspection requires, in one system.

Can We Keep Our Own Scanners and Viewer?
Yes. Your scanners stay, and you can use your own viewer or ours. Either way, NovoPath makes sure the correct slides open for the case, and the worklist, case and report run in the LIS.
Do We Have to Go Fully Digital at Once?
No. Digital and glass cases share one worklist and the same rules, so you can move one site, specialty or pathologist at a time. Cases already read stay on your existing image system.
What's the Difference Between an LIS and an Image Management System?
The LIS owns the case: the order, the specimen, who’s reading it, the report and the bill. An image management system stores and displays slide images. When they’re separate, someone has to keep them in step. NovoPath builds the digital workflow into the LIS.
